Our team of experienced eye care professionals is committed to providing comprehensive, personalized care by thoroughly understanding the complexities of the human eye and the various conditions that can impact vision—many of which may develop without noticeable early symptoms.
Our optometrists possess in-depth knowledge of how factors such as age, lifestyle, and individual risk profiles affect ocular health over time. They are highly skilled in identifying the most appropriate corrective solutions, including prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses tailored to each patient's unique needs.
During your visit, our optometrists take the time to clearly explain your exam results, review available treatment options, and discuss any concerns you may have. We view optimal eye health as a collaborative, ongoing process. Open communication is encouraged—we welcome your questions and value your health history, as it plays an essential role in accurate diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and long-term vision care.
Meet our doctors:
Dr. Tamra (Tami) Soriano earned her undergraduate degree at Missouri State University. She then moved to St. Louis to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Missouri- St. Louis. She graduated with honors, received the Dean's award, and completed her 4 years as the valedictorian of her class. She also received the Kaplan Research Award and the Pediatric Award upon graduation from UMSL. Following graduation, Dr. Soriano worked for three years in St. Louis and briefly in Joplin before opening the doors of Carthage Eye Care in December of 1992. In 2011, she received the Athena Award from the Carthage Chamber of Commerce for being an outstanding example of compassion to women and children in need. Dr. Soriano is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Association.
Dr. Soriano has been married to her husband, Greg, for 32 years. Greg enjoys teaching at the radiology technology program at Missouri Southern State University. Dr. Soriano also has two daughters, Kailie and Torie. Kailie enjoys her career at the Leffen Center for Autism, working with children and their families through therapy sessions and integration into normal school atmospheres. Torie has followed in her mother's footsteps by becoming an optometrist, and joined Carthage Eye Care as an associate optometrist in June of 2017.
While Dr. Soriano loves her patients in Carthage, one of her most fulfilling passions is traveling overseas for medical mission trips. Dr. Soriano has been to Mexico, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Togo to provide eye exams for those who simply don't have access to medical care. These mission trips usually require a few helpers, so her family frequently joins her. Susan, our beloved office manager, has also accompanied Dr. Soriano on these trips, and has become a vital part of caring for our overseas patients.
In her down time, Dr. Soriano loves to travel with family and friends. Some of her favorite destinations include Kauai, Hawaii and North Captiva Island in Florida. Dr. Soriano also loves watching crime shows with her daughters and cooking.
Dr. Michelle Pyle earned her undergraduate degree at Missouri Southern State University, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. She went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry in 2003, where she was an active member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.

In her time away from the office, Dr. Pyle enjoys spending time with her husband, Bryan, to whom she has been married to since 2003. Bryan is a computer programmer at Leggett & Platt. The two keep themselves very busy with raising twin boys, Luke and Logan. Luke and Logan were born in March of 2014, and are happy, healthy, and active boys! When they are not chasing their boys around, Dr. Pyle and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Torie Bounous was raised in Carthage, Missouri and attended Carthage Senior High School. Being Dr. Tami Soriano's younger daughter, she spent many summers working at Carthage Eye Care as a patient care technician. Upon her high school graduation, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree at the University of Arkansas. It wasn't until her time in college when she traveled to Haiti with her mother for a mission trip that she found an interest in optometry. With this new goal in mind, Dr. Soriano graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2013 and moved on to attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. She graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society with special interest in pediatrics and specialty contact lens fitting.
Dr. Bounous joined Carthage Eye Care in 2017. She has enjoyed working with Dr. Tami Soriano and Dr. Pyle, as well as the rest of the staff. She is a member of the InfantSee program, where she provides eye care screenings for infants 6-12 months of age. She also enjoys going to the nursing home to provide comprehensive eye exams, and highly values the relationships she has found with her patients there.
In 2020, Dr. Bounous married her husband, Kellen, who is a land real estate agent for Midwest Land Group. Together they have two beautiful girls, Parker and hayden. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling with family and friends, attending Arkansas Razorback games, hiking, and participating in mission trips.
Dr. Craig Woods has been practicing Optometry in Illinois since 2018 and is excited to now serve the Carthage community. Dr. Woods earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville before going on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry.
